DRAFT: needs owner approval
Privacy policy
LitterPin is a prototype run by Oskars Barkovskis. This page explains what data we process and why.
What we store
- Pins: the spot you confirmed, category, status and the photo if you added one. Photo metadata (EXIF, GPS) is removed on the server.
- Without an account: a random device id in a cookie so you can undo your own pin and so we can stop spam. Your IP address is only kept as a hash for rate limits.
- Notification area (draft, needs owner approval): if you set a home spot, we round it to about 50 m and only use it to match notifications. Nobody else ever sees it, and you can delete it in Settings. Settings are linked to your device id and, after you sign up, to your account.
- Who is online: an open app sends a rough spot (about 1 km grid) once a minute. We only show counts (for example "12 neighbours online nearby"), never names or places; it stops counting after 5 minutes and is deleted after an hour.
- Push notifications: the browser subscription (address and keys) is linked to your device. We send at most one notification per 10 minutes, group several events into one digest and respect your quiet hours.
- With an account: your first name or nickname, email, a bcrypt password hash or your Google/Facebook account id, your points and ranking.
Sign in with Google or Facebook
We only receive your name, email and account id. We never post anything for you.
Who sees it
Others only see your first name, never your email or your home. Data is stored on a server in the EU (Hetzner, Germany). We do not sell data and use no advertising cookies.
Your rights
You can delete your account in the app (Me, Delete account) or ask us to, see Data deletion. You have the right to complain to your data protection authority.
